On June 25, 2013, the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) hosted members of the MBLA and other affinity bar organizations at its Diversity Happy Hour. Thanks to MBLA Board members Serge Georges, Adam Foss and Clarence Richardson for helping to coordinate this event.

On June 19, 2013, the Women’s Bar Association & Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys Women’s Caucus hosted Trials Facing Women Litigators & Tips for Success at the Moakley Federal Courthouse. Panelists included Janice Bassil- Partner, Carney & Bassil; the Honorable Denise Casper- U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts; Kimberly Dougherty- Attorney, Janet Jenner & Suggs; Julia Frost-Davies- Partner, Bingham McCutchen LLP; and Tejal Mehta- Assistant District Attorney, Middlesex D.A.’s Office.

On June 19, 2013, the Boston Lawyers Group hosted its 2013 Annual Meeting at Wilmer Hale. The event featured speaker, Crystal E. Ashby, Executive Vice President of Government and Public Affairs, BP America Inc. and Mistress of Ceremonies, Karen Holmes Ward, Director, Public Affairs & Community Services, WCVB TV5.

On May 22, 2013, members of the MBLA joined the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) for its 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Seaport Boston Hotel. The event featured speaker Seth Waxman, Former Solicitor General of the United States of America, and honorees Stephen Oleskey, Former Equal Justice Coalition Chair, and Joseph Kociubes, Former MLAC pro bono general counsel.

On May 1, 2013, the MBLA and MAHA co-sponsored the YWCA Boston's Stand Against Racism campaign: Racism & Law- The Shifting of Racial Consciousness within the Legal Community at the Boston Bar Association. The event featured successful and knowledgeable speakers from the judiciary, government agencies, universities and companies who provided an "inside view" of emerging racial issues that are affecting their field.

On April 29, 2013, State Street hosted members of the MBLA and other affinity bar associations at their Diversity and Inclusion Networking event. The event featured speaker Danny Ertel of Vantage Partners who discussed his work with leading law firms and law departments to evolve approaches to negotiate fee arrangements, manage matters, and reduce costs. He also discussed how firms and their clients can work to develop strategies to improve value for money in a collaborative and sustainable way.

On April 23, 2013, the MBLA held its Annual Meeting. At the Annual Meeting, the membership elected the new 2013-2014 MBLA Board.
