It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve as the President of incredible and illustrious Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association for the 2020-2021 program year. On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors, we are excited by the opportunity to pay homage to our trailblazers, host signature events, create new and innovative programming and most importantly, continue to promote and support the retention and elevation of Black attorneys across the Commonwealth and beyond. The strength of our legal community relies on diversity across race, gender, socio-economic background and each of you.
Since 1973, the MBLA has worked to attract, retain and elevate talented Black attorneys and the goal remains the same. President Barack Obama said it best by noting that “[c]hange will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” I look forward to leading the helm during this program year and ask each of you to join me in ensuring that our collective voices are heard.
Best,
Stesha A. Emmanuel
