The message is simple. You can do three things to help change our inherent biases and help stop violence against young black men.

  1. Acknowledge your biases, We all have them and you can’t get past them if you can’t see them.
  2. Move closer to your discomfort by expanding your social circle by moving toward, not away from, the groups that make you feel uncomfortable.
  3. If you see something, have the courage to stand up and say something. Don’t let hatred or bigotry go by without comment.

If you do these 3 things, we, “cease to be bystanders. We become actors, we become activists, and we become allies.”
