On Thursday September 25, 2014 the MBLA hosted our annual Fall Reception at the W Hotel. Thank you to all who joined us for our annual Fall Reception and in honoring the newest Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court, Justice Geraldine S. Hines.
On September 11, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Boston Bar Association, we will host an ethics panel titled Focus on Ethics: Ethical Issues in the Technological Age. Panelists will highlight best practices for lawyers when advertising online, participating in social media, and communicating with clients through electronic media. The panel will feature, Ms. Stacy Best, from the Board of Bar Overseers, among others.
All MBLA members and friends are invited to the American Constitution Society’s Constitution Day celebration on September 30th. At the event, the ACS will be presenting the Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall Award to Governor Deval L. Patrick, a most deserving honoree for his commitment to the ACS mission. The reception also celebrates the Constitution and ACS efforts in Boston. As you may know, the mission of ACS is to promote the vitality of the U.S. Constitution and the fundamental values it expresses: individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, access to justice, democracy and the rule of law. Founded in 2001, ACS is a still growing national network of lawyers, law students, scholars, judges, policymakers, and other concerned individuals. The 2014 Constitution Day event is at 6 pm on September 30th at the John Adams Courthouse. Hope you can make the celebration!
On Wednesday, October 1, 2014 The Massachusetts Chapter of The Federal Bar Association and the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association will be co-hosting an Interview Skills workshop for participants in the CARE and RESTART federal probation programs (Court Assisted Recovery Effort and Reentry: Empowering Successful Todays And Responsible Tomorrows). We are seeking volunteers to assist participants in gaining interview and job search skills by conducting mock interviews and counseling sessions.

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) will be holding a Diversity Career Fair on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at 100 Cambridge Street in Boston, MA, 2nd floor, Mezzanine level.
