The Office the General Counsel is seeking an attorney with a minimum of six to eight years of experience for a position in the Research and Technology Section of the Office.

The Research and Technology Section provides legal support for all aspects of the biomedical research and technology transfer activities of Partners and its affiliated hospitals, including human subject research issues; relationships with industrial sponsors, collaborators, and licensees; federally-funded research issues; intellectual property; research-related privacy issues; research misconduct; and other research-related issues.

The primary areas of responsibility for this position will be human subjects research; privacy and other issues relating to research data and the sharing of such data for research collaboration, benchmarking, quality improvement and other purposes; and regulatory oversight of human subject research including OHRP, FDA and HIPAA regulations.  The person in this position will be a member of the four-attorney Section, expected to work in other areas under the supervision of other members.  Experience in some or all of the foregoing areas is a prerequisite; experience in other areas handled by the section, including scientific research in academic settings, technology transfer, and intellectual property or in the health care department of a law office representing large organizations is preferred.

The Office, comprised of 26 attorneys, is a collaborative, full service law department providing legal services to Partners HealthCare and its affiliates, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
