Position   Description:

The Town of Brookline, MA seeks a highly qualified Director of   Planning and Community Development with exceptional leadership abilities. The   Director reports directly to the Town Administrator and Board of Selectmen   and requires a broad knowledge of all aspects of municipal planning,   including housing, economic development, open space and preservation,   transportation, and the laws governing land use law and zoning. The Director   will be responsible to manage 15 professional staff members and $1.3 million   in grants, e.g., CDBG, and has extensive interaction with Town departments,   boards, commissions, community groups, and the public.

Position   Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of   leadership including collaborative management and team-building; with an   ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and   a solid understanding of new and emerging strategies in the municipal   Planning and Community Development field. Candidates should have a master’s   degree in planning or related field and at least ten years of increasingly   responsible experience in municipal planning/community development; AICP   preferred. Starting salary of $105,546 to $113,703 DOQ with opportunity for   salary growth and department head benefits.
