As the principal litigator for the United States of America in the District of Massachusetts, the United States Attorney prosecutes all criminal and civil cases brought by the Federal government and defends the United States when it is a party in a civil case. Job Description: 

This position is for a full-time Asset Forfeiture Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) located in the Asset Forfeiture Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The Asset Forfeiture Unit investigates and prosecutes both civil and criminal cases that involve the possible forfeiture of real property, currency, vehicles, and other items of value. The Asset Forfeiture Unit AUSAs handle forfeiture matters alone, or in conjunction with an AUSA from the Criminal Division. The Unit also works to enhance cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies through the equitable sharing of assets recovered through forfeiture.

Qualifications: 

Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least four years post-JD experience.

Preferred qualifications: Preferred candidates will have at least two years of federal asset forfeiture experience.

United States citizenship is required.

Salary: 

The range of pay is $57,502 to $160,200 which includes locality pay for the Boston area.

Travel: 

The position may require occasional travel.
