The Government Bureau seeks an exceptional and highly motivated attorney in its Abandoned Housing Initiative, Worcester Regional Office. The Abandoned Housing Initiative enforces receivership actions against homes left abandoned as a result of foreclosures.
Primary Duties: The successful candidate can expect to perform the following duties: meeting with community leaders and potential receivers; attending inspections by local officials in abandoned and blighted properties; coordinating code enforcement activities with local officials at the targeted properties; drafting, filing and serving notices, petitions for appointment of receivers, supporting affidavits and orders; negotiating favorable settlements with foreclosing banks and delinquent owners; and monitoring receiver’s progress through conclusion of case.
Position Requirements: Candidates for this position should have three to five years of civil litigation experience. Knowledge and experience in real estate law, municipal law, Land Court practice and/or mortgage foreclosure litigation is preferred. A valid Massachusetts Driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle is required as travel is necessary to various courts and blighted properties across the Commonwealth.
