Angela Gomes – Immediate Past President

Angela Gomes is a Counsel in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group in the Boston office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Ms. Gomes concentrates in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate matters. She advises clients, including public companies, on a broad range of corporate and securities matters, including securities law compliance, disclosure and periodic reporting and corporate governance matters. Ms. Gomes also represents certain nonprofit organizations with respect to general corporate law matters, as well as state and federal tax exempt status. Ms. Gomes graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2005. During her tenure at BUSL, she served as a member of the Black Law Students Association, as well as a vice-president and president during her second and third years, respectively, and as a member and an articles editor for the Journal of Science and Technology Law. Ms. Gomes holds a B.A. in psychology from Boston University. Ms. Gomes also serves on the Associates Advisory Council of the United Way, as co-chair of the Affinity Bar Relations Subcommittee of the Boston Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, on the Attorney Advisory Committee of the Boston Lawyers Group, on the Boards of Directors of The Midas Collaborative and Boston Dance Alliance and on the Board of Trustees of the Women’s Bar Foundation.  During the past three years, Ms. Gomes has been an active member of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers association and has held various leadership positions, including President-Elect, Secretary and member of the Gala, Finance, Membership Development and Technology and Marketing Committees.
