In this role, you have the opportunity to

Initially support the Sleep and Respiratory Care Sales and Service (“SRC Sales”) team of Philips’ North America. This team provides solutions that include the selling of a broad range of medical devices and related services and solutions; many of which include cloud based, connected digital propositions. This position is transaction based and therefore also requires the selected lawyer to issue spot and address legal, compliance and ethical matters arising from sales negotiations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
You are responsible to

• Generally, provide legal support to Philips’ Sleep & Respiratory businesses. These businesses develop, manufacture, and sell sophisticated clinical, health and wellness related products, software applications, along with related consulting and support services. An integral part of this business is health informatics, big data, IT-related services, SaaS business models as well as Philips’ branded digital health platform which is used throughout Philips.
• Specifically, provide commercial legal support for a wide variety of customer programs offered by SRC Sales, including creating and updating forms and templates and negotiating sales, rental and service agreements.
• Identify and resolve US Anti-kickback, Privacy, Antitrust, and other issues in sales and service programs and transactions.
• Provide legal and compliance training to the SRC Sales teams.
• Work independently and provide consultative legal advice to the assigned functional areas.
• Develop one’s legal talents over time by eventually being able to support the broad scope of Philips’ health technologies businesses.
• Assist in other areas of SRC Sales as needed such as those related to R&D, procurement and marketing.
• Coordinate and facilitate other related business initiatives when applicable.
• Identifying business and legal risks and offering creative solutions and counseling based on a reasonable balance of the applicable issues;

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

• Requires a JD from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to a state bar and at least three years of experience in either a corporate environment or with a law firm.
• Excellent listening, drafting and negotiating skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities in a fast paced environment.
• Experience in and interest in providing commercial legal support to sales and/or service professionals selling heathcare product solutions or technology offerings to healthcare providers.
• Willingness to act as a valuable business partner and not merely as a lawyer citing risk. Our clients seek solutions to their problems and rely on the Legal Department to do so.
• Comfortable being a self-advocate to build consensus to obtain results that are in the business interest of your corporate client.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary teams that deal with selling complex products, service and solutions.
• Working familiarity with Healthcare Compliance laws (i.e. Medicare Fraud and Abuse, the Personal Services Safe Harbor, Sunshine Law, and HIPAA) for issue spotting purposes.
