About the MBLA

The Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association (MBLA) proudly stands as the oldest affinity bar organization in Massachusetts, having been founded on March 2, 1973, with a mission to elevate the presence and influence of Black legal professionals in Massachusetts. As a beacon of advocacy and empowerment, we are committed to uplifting our members, amplifying their voices, and driving positive societal change for generations to come.

Our founding board members include Clarence E. Dilday (President), Grover G. Jackson (Treasurer),  Solomon B. Watson (Clerk),  Richard A. Soden,  Dennis R. Tourse, and Warren E. Wood.
