MCLE Program Attorney Vacancy
MCLE has an immediate opening for a full-time Program Attorney. The Program Attorney coordinates and monitors volunteer faculty in planning, preparing, presenting and evaluating continuing legal education seminars for attorneys. The Program Attorney reports to the Director of Programs.
Qualifications
- Law school graduate with solid academic record
- Experience in law practice, continuing education or marketing
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a public spirit and sense of humor
- Excellent speaking and writing skills
- Demonstrated administrative, organizational and management skills with attention to details
- Experience working under and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment; strong work ethic; independence; ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Creativity, energy, resourcefulness as a legal curriculum planner with the ability to capture the imagination and energies of volunteer faculty and staff
- The position requires covering numerous committee and seminar planning meetings including occasional evenings and in-state car travel
- The position requires the ability to deal directly and frequently with lawyers and judges and the ability to motivate, persuade and dissuade them diplomatically, and the willingness to foster and maintain constructive long-term relationships
- The position requires sensitivity to organizational and interpersonal dynamics and entails intensive, day-to-day communication and cooperation with an experienced staff of non-lawyer specialists
Job Responsibilities
- Studies and analyzes the legal profession and MCLE’s curriculum and confers with expert attorneys and others to identify and recommend topics and faculty for seminars
- Facilitates and serves as liaison to several practice area Curriculum Advisory Committees
- Is responsible for developing content, selecting teaching methodology, recruiting volunteer faculty and compiling written materials for assigned seminars; approximately 75 per year
- Drafts correspondence, seminar brochures and other materials necessary to plan, promote, present and evaluate seminars
- Evaluates seminars, volunteer faculty, seminar materials and seminar brochures to improve future presentations
- Develops regional CLE markets and travels throughout Massachusetts to supervise the presentation of seminars
- Fosters cooperative working relationship with support and professional staff
- Responds to inquiries concerning MCLE services and products
- Represents the interests of MCLE and explains its policies and practices
- Assumes additional administrative duties as assigned
Compensation and Benefits
- Salaried position, salary range: $47,500 – $72,500; annual salary review
- Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- 37.5 hour work week; 13 paid holidays; occasional evenings; occasional scheduled Saturday seminar administration; in-state car travel
- Seven sick/personal days
- Vacation
3 weeks (years 1 and 2)
4 weeks (year 3+)
5 weeks (year 10+)
- Employer Retirement Contribution: 7½% of annual salary, vesting on second anniversary
- 80% individual medical coverage, same dollar amount contributed to family coverage. 50% for individual dental coverage, same dollar amount contributed to family dental coverage.
