Position Summary:  Attorney General Maura Healey is looking for an exceptional and highly motivated mid-level to senior attorney to join the Antitrust Division as an Assistant Attorney General to lead challenging and cutting edge enforcement actions aimed at protecting Massachusetts consumers and our competitive free enterprise system.

 

Primary Duties:  You will represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in investigations and litigation before state and federal courts.  You will be responsible for handling a substantial caseload enforcing state and federal antitrust laws, from investigation through trial and appeal.  Cases will cover a broad range of industries and will often pose complex and, in certain circumstances, cutting-edge legal issues.  The Division reviews proposed mergers and investigates alleged anticompetitive conduct in a variety of industries.  You will handle your own cases as well as work with other attorneys, including, in some cases, Assistant Attorneys General from other states across the country and attorneys with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.  You may be involved in policy development, including drafting or reviewing proposed legislation.  Recent antitrust cases or matters brought by the Attorney General have involved, among other areas, health care and technology.

 

Position Requirements:  Five years or more experience preferred.  You must be able to demonstrate that you are highly motivated and have the ability and desire to handle complex and challenging matters and to professionally and successfully represent the Commonwealth and the Attorney General before the courts and the public.  Antitrust experience is highly desirable but not a prerequisite.  Health care experience is advantageous.  You should have significant litigation and/or other relevant legal experience.  You should be dedicated to serving the public interest.  You must be a member of the Massachusetts Bar or be eligible for admission by motion.
