Vanessa O’Connor is a second year associate in the business litigation department at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, L.L.P. Her practice focuses on business dispute and employment litigation, insurance litigation and real estate transactions. For the past year, Vanessa has served as a Director and Chairperson of the Student support Committee for the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. In that time she lead the planning and execution of several successful events across the state aimed at engaging local law students and integrating them into the local community of attorneys of color. Vanessa is also member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Membership Committee where she also serves on the Diversity Sub-Committee. She is also on the Board of Directors for Ashmont Hill Chamber Music, a local non-profit organization, and has been a Big Sister with the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston since 2011. Prior to passing the bar, Vanessa graduated from Tufts University in 2009 where she was a Political Science major. She also attended Georgetown University from 2006 to 2007. Ms. O’Connor earned her law degree from Boston College Law School in 2013 where she also served as Secretary for Boston College Law School’s Black Law Students Association chapter. While in law school, she spent two years working as a law clerk at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP. As a law clerk, Ms. O’Connor assisted partners and associates with all phases of the civil litigation process–including mediations and arbitrations. Prior to law school, Vanessa worked as a real estate law clerk at Hill Law Offices, LLC actively representing parties in a variety of real estate transactions.
