Organization Description: Silver Lining Mentoring is the only mentoring organization in Massachusetts that exclusively serves youth in foster care. We empower youth in foster care to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and development of essential life skills, because irrespective of how youth enter the foster care system, they need to know that they matter. Our volunteer mentors are often the only adults in our youth’s lives who are not paid to spend time with them.
Volunteer Opportunity: Silver Lining Mentoring is currently in need of dedicated, caring adults to become Life Skills Mentors to youth with foster care experience. You don’t need a special background to be a mentor, just a desire to be a supportive, consistent presence to a child who needs a stable adult figure. Mentors are required to commit to spending two evenings a month, for a year with their mentee and must be at least twenty-one years old. We are specifically looking for male mentors, mentors with out-of-home care experience.
