Doreen Rachal

Doreen Rachal is an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts in the Asset Forfeiture Unit. As an AUSA, Ms. Rachal prosecutes both civil and criminal forfeiture cases. Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Rachal was an associate at Bingham McCutchen in Boston. Her practice focused primarily on complex and commercial litigation and securities litigation, representing local and national companies. Her practice also included constitutional litigation and labor and employment litigation involving claims of discrimination and wrongful termination. Ms. Rachal’s experience at Bingham McCutchen included matters in state and federal court, mediation, and arbitration proceedings, involving breach of contract disputes, business tort claims, accounting malpractice, securities and broker-dealer matters, and discovery disputes. While at Bingham McCutchen, Ms. Rachal served on the Diversity Committee for three years, focusing primarily on the retention and recruitment of Attorneys of Color.  Prior to joining Bingham McCutchen, Ms. Rachal clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Roderick Ireland at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and also served as a legal intern for the Honorable Judge Mary A. Gooden Terrell at the District of Columbia Superior Court during law school. As a third-year law student, Ms. Rachal represented indigent clients as a student attorney through her participation in the Civil Rights Clinic and assisted with drafting and submitting several appellate briefs, including a brief to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and a Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. Prior to law school, Ms. Rachal worked as a telecommunications paralegal at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, PC’s Washington, D.C., office. Ms. Rachal has been a member of the Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association. During the past six years, Doreen has been an active member of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers association and has held various leadership positions, including Program Director, Treasurer, and Finance Committee Chair.  Ms. Rachal has also assisted with the planning and execution of the annual Gala.
