On November 5, 2013, the MBLA partnered with the Boston Bar Association (BBA) Diversity & Inclusion Section to hold “Hanging Your Shingle: A Panel on Starting and Maintaining Your Own Practice.” Those who attended heard from minority bar association leaders and other successful attorneys who have established their own practices.
Panelists included Danilo Avalon, 2013 MAHA President, Roland Hughes, 2006-2008 MAHA President , Lisa J. Smith, Collaborative Lawyer and Mediator, and Serge Georges, Jr., 2013 MBLA President. The moderator was Salomon Chiquiar-Rabinovich, 2007-2008 HNBA Regional President. The panelists shared their insights on how they developed their unique career paths and provided presentations on going solo in today’s economy, and the use of social media and technology to market your practice. Closing remarks were provided by Roxana Maiorescu, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Marketing Communication at Emerson College.
