On February 6, 2014, the MBLA in partnership with the BBA’s Diversity & Inclusion and AALAM, MAHA, MBWA, MA LGBTQ Bar, and SABA GB held a panel discussion on the judicial application process and the rewards of judicial service at the Boston Bar Association. Participants included: Kate Cook, Governor’s Chief Legal Counsel; Marilyn O’Connell, Executive Director of the Judicial Nominating Commission; Macey Russell, Chair, Judicial Nominating Commission; and Hon. Gloria Tan, Associate Justice, Massachusetts Juvenile Court. The panel was moderated by BJ Trach, Chair of the MBLA’s Judicial Appointment Committee.
The program explained how to apply for a judgeship and what happens at each stage of the process. Participants discussed the work experience and other qualifications that help applicants stand out. The program was followed by a reception hosted by the BBA.
