On January 23, 2013, members of the MBLA served dinner at the Pine Street Inn in honor of the Martin Luther King Day of Service and as part of the MBLA's ongoing volunteer efforts in the community. Members of the MBLA who were unable to attend this event were encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities offered by Boston Cares.

On January 5, 2013, the MBLA Board celebrated the New Year with a holiday party at the home of President Rachael Rollins.

On July 22, 2012, the MBLA hosted a Board retreat for the new members of the 2012-2013 MBLA Board at the home of President-Elect Serge Georges.
