INVESTIGATOR, TITLE IX AND BIAS RESPONSE OFFICE, Office of the Provost, to investigate cases alleging student misconduct, specifically sexual misconduct, harassment, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other forms of bias or discrimination. | |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: | |
Will assist in meeting U.S. Department of Education and Office for Civil Rights compliance standards and identifying best practices nationally and locally. The primary responsibility will be to conduct reviews and investigations of reported incidents and preparing reports as needed. Will also coordinate with the director of the Office of Student Conduct and the faculty chair of the Committee on Discipline (COD) when an investigation is in connection with a COD complaint; coordinate interim measures and accommodations as applicable and document all steps in the investigation process; conduct outreach and education on student life topics, including Title IX, sexual misconduct, and bias/discrimination with campus partners; and assist with related projects as assigned. | |
Minimum Qualifications and Skills: | |
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (JD or master’s preferred) in student affairs, higher education administration, law enforcement, criminology, social work, psychology, or relate field; at least three years’ relevant professional experience in the area of investigations, student conduct, civil rights law, or interpersonal violence; ability to take initiative and independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work under time constraints; excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills; cultural competence; ability to maintain impartiality in complex cases; ability to cultivate partnerships in MIT’s diverse community of students, staff, and faculty; knowledge of Title IX and other national and local civil rights laws, trends, legal obligations, and initiatives; and experience with Microsoft Office. A background and training in conducting sensitive and confidential investigations, ideally in a higher education environment is preferred. Job #15090-P
