As the principal litigator for the United States of America in the District of Massachusetts, the United States Attorney prosecutes all criminal and civil cases brought by the Federal government and defends the United States when it is a party in a civil case. Job Description:
The position of an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) provides one with the responsibility and the authority to effect positive changes in the lives of Americans who live in Massachusetts and across the United States. This position is located in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, with a primary duty station in Boston. The AUSA will be responsible for investigating and prosecuting child exploitation cases, including working closely with agents from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies investigating sexual predators and child pornographers. The AUSA may also act as the office’s Project Safe Childhood Coordinator, providing advice and direction to other AUSAs and staff working on child exploitation matters, as well as conducting outreach to affected victim communities.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least four years post-JD litigation experience.
Preferred qualifications: Preferred candidates will have at least two years of experience in prosecuting cases involving child pornography or the exploitation of children.
United States citizenship is required.
Salary:
The range of pay is $57,502 to $160,200 which includes locality pay for the Boston area.
Travel:
The position may require occasional travel.
