Nakisha L. Skinner is General Counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance. Nakisha directs all legal affairs affecting the agency and provides legal advice and counsel to the agency head and other executive staff. Nakisha has extensive experience as a government attorney, having served in the public sector for over 17 years. Prior to state service, Nakisha served as General Counsel for the City of Boston’s Public Health Commission. She maintains an appointment as Special Assistant Attorney General. S he is a former Vice President and Director of the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys and is a member of the Boston Bar Association, serving on its Government Lawyer Forum Advisory Committee.
Nakisha received her Bachelor of Science degree from Suffolk University in 1998 and her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in 2003. In March 2016, she was named Leader in the Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and she received the Young Alumni Award from Suffolk Law in 2010.
